Sept. 2010 Prayer Letter

Greetings friends, and welcome to the 2010-2011 school year!  We’ve had a busy summer, had fun ministering to lots of kids, and now it’s time to step into this exciting new season of youth ministry full swing.  This time of year, many families prepare to re-enter the hustle and bustle of school work, sports schedules, and other activities.  We have been working hard on our end to start off with a jam-packed ministry schedule, in hopes that there will be a little of something for everyone, and at a time that will suit!  We welcome your prayers that parents would find these events worthy of adding to their calendars, and that the kids will enjoy and grow though what we have planned and want to bring their friends!

Here at the Hoffmaster house, there is never a dull moment!  The kids are now 10, 3, 2, and 1, and are continuing to grow, both in size, wisdom, and in their faith in Jesus!  The big thing around here lately has been trying to settle into a schedule, and Leah has been working hard at organizing chore lists, homeschool plans, and more to make things run as smoothly as possible.  She’s feeling healthy, and we continue to trust the Lord for her total healing from cancer.  This year she looks forward to starting a small girls group where she can teach some fun, useful homemaking skills and practice developing Godly character in issues such as dating, self-respect, and knowing our true identity in Christ!

I wanted to share with you the game plan for September as best we know it right now.  Your prayers, especially during these times, are so important!  (Dates and times may vary slightly in the coming months as we strive towards accommodating kids busy schedules, including numerous “spontaneous” events.  We will let you know as soon as we do!)

We are still looking for volunteers to assist with things such as snacks and transportation, and we specifically are in need of female volunteers to help oversee co-ed activities such as our weekly club times and other events.  If God puts this desire in your heart, please contact us so we can get the ball rolling!

We are very appreciative of your prayers and financial support of our ministry; we could not do this without you!  After taking a long, hard look at our budget, we realize that we need an extra thousand dollars per month to adequately provide for our family and be able to continue to minister to the youth of our area.  We’d like to ask you to prayerfully consider what you could do in helping us meet this goal.   Contact me at (570) 922-3125 if you’d like more information on volunteering or partnering with the ministry.

Thanks again for your faithfulness and desire to reach all of God’s precious children for Jesus Christ!  Our prayers continue to be with you as well, as our partners and friends!

"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."                                                                                                    Mark 9:37

In Christ alone,
Shawn A. Hoffmaster
